  • Group

Group counseling can mean couples counseling or family counseling, which involves treatment of psychological problems in which two or more participants interact with each other on both an emotional and a cognitive level. Group therapy seeks to enhance self-respect, deepen self-understanding, and improve interpersonal relationships.

  • Marriage and Couples Therapy

  • Children

Psychotherapy for children up to the age at which they reach puberty. The focus may be on emotions, cognitions, or behavior. The level of parental involvement typically depends on the age of the child, type of problem, or approach used. The child may be treated concurrently in group or family therapy.

  • Young Adults

The young adult period is characterized by rapid physiological, sexual, cognitive, and emotional changes. The transition from adolescent to adult becomes apparent as one completes the physical maturation process and secondary sexual characteristics become fully formed.

  • Trauma

Traumatic events include those caused by human behavior (e.g., rape, war, industrial accidents) and by nature (e.g., earthquakes) and often challenge an individual’s view of the world as a just, safe, and predictable place.

  • EMDR

    Eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a treatment methodology used to reduce the emotional impact of trauma-based symptoms such as anxiety, nightmares, flashbacks, or intrusive thought processes. The therapy incorporates simultaneous visualization of the traumatic event while concentrating on bilateral stimulation. Bilateral stimulation is stimuli (visual, auditory, or tactile) that occur in a rhythmic left-right pattern. For example, visual bilateral stimulation could involve watching a hand or moving light alternating from left to right and back again.

  • Brainspotting

Brainspotting therapy is an alternative therapy that uses spots in a person's visual field to help them process trauma. Similar to EMDR, it accesses trauma trapped in the subcortical brain, the area of the brain responsible for motion, consciousness, emotions, and learning.
