Meet Mariana
Mariana's clinical areas of focus include trauma, traumatic loss, survivors of physical and sexual abuse, anxiety and depression, anger, grief, life transitions, eating disorders, prenatal and postnatal issues, family conflict, parenting challenges, multicultural issues and acculturation, and issues with self esteem, self image, identity and spirituality. Mariana is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and trained in Brain spotting and may apply these treatment approaches to many of these issues.
My Background
Mariana Nenadic Shanks is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has worked in the field of counseling psychology since 2007. She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University and her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of California at Santa Cruz. Mariana works with individuals, couples and families challenged by various psychological issues that interfere with the quality of their relationships and their lives. Mariana's calm, open presence helps create a safe and trusting therapeutic experience. Utilizing a variety of proven therapeutic modalities, she works with those struggling with emotional pain to attain hope, healing and transformation in their lives. She welcomes the inclusion of faith and spirituality in the therapy treatment.
