Meet Charlene
Welcome—I’m glad you’re here.
I would first like to acknowledge your time and efforts to explore counseling. How are you today? How are you really doing?
In my practice, I aim to co-create a compassionate, confidential space where you can bring your full self – your questions, your story, your struggles, and your hopes. I draw on my training in neuroscience and biology from UC Berkeley and my counseling and spiritual formation training from Western Seminary to offer a holistic, thoughtful, and faith-sensitive approach to therapy.
Perhaps you’re feeling stretched thin between work, family, and ministry responsibilities? I’m here to support you.
Perhaps you’re wrestling with questions about your faith or feeling distant from God? I’m here to listen and we can seek God together.
Perhaps you carry deep emotional wounds that prevent you from flourishing? I hope you are healed. I’m praying for you.
A little about me: I’m a second-generation Taiwanese American, born and raised in Orange County, CA. My journey into counseling began after serving several years as a layperson care minister and experiencing the transformative power of therapy myself. I decided to transition from my design tech job into this vocation. Therapy can be a wonderful, heartbreaking, intentional space to work through your growth.
Let’s chat sometime.
Areas of Focus
I specialize in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, panic attacks, and developmental trauma through an integrative approach that includes mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), internal family systems, and brainspotting.
Brainspotting is a powerful, brain-based modality that uses eye positions to help individuals access and process emotionally charged experiences stored deep in the brain. By guiding your gaze to specific points in your visual field – often using a pointer or natural reference points in the room – we activate your brain’s subcortical system to support emotion regulation and trauma recovery. It often accelerates healing, reduces distressing symptoms, and brings insight in a way that can feel cathartic and a little surreal. If you’re curious, feel free to reach out to learn more. I’d love to share more about how it works and whether it might be a good fit for you.
Fun Facts About Charlene
I love camping! There’s something deeply restorative about waking up in nature, listening to the morning birds, hiking through scenic trails, and ending the day cooking a simple meal by the fire with loved ones. It reminds me to slow down, be present, and savor the little moments in life.
