Meet Andrea

The first time I traveled overseas on my own, my parents saw me off with the following words of advice: “Everybody has a story—ask them about it.” Since then, this philosophy has allowed me to connect with people from all walks of life and has inspired me to want to listen to, help, and serve others. Using my former background in marketing and communications—coupled with my intersectionality and drive for social justice—I am passionate about advocating for diverse, underserved, and underrepresented populations who may be experiencing anything and everything from life transitions to crisis management. As your therapist, I strive to meet you just where you are and treat you holistically as an individual who is uniquely and wonderfully created. Asking for help does not need to be a daunting experience—in our work together, I hope to provide a safe space for you where you feel empowered to unpack, explore, and overcome at your own pace and in your own time.

My Background

A Bay Area native, I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University, where I served as the President of Multicultural Affairs of SCU’s Graduate Student Association. I also received a Bachelor of Arts in both English and Philosophy from the University of California, Davis. Prior to becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist, I had a decade-long career in marketing as an arts, culture, and entertainment publicist in San Francisco after a couple of years as a tech journalist and radio DJ.

Beyond my education and professional career, I am a volunteer Crisis Counselor for a global suicide and crisis intervention non-profit organization. Additionally, I have volunteered extensively with local non-profit and youth-based organizations that provide aid to my community. This includes being a Sunday school teacher and camp counselor in children and youth ministries, volunteering abroad in Mexico and Italy, helping support and combat homelessness in San Francisco, and fostering dogs from high-kill shelters.

Areas of Focus

My areas of focus are crisis management, anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity & meaning, gender & sexuality, grief & loss, relationships, parenting, and feminist-multicultural & systemic issues. I work with adults, teens, children, couples, and families, in addition to being an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist.

Fun Facts About Andrea

I am a classic ENFP and Enneagram type 7, which means I thrive while being surrounded by people. When I am not working, I am spending most of my time in my happy place: getting my hands dirty with my kids, my spouse, and our big, fluffy dog. My other passions include traveling, reading, baking, surfing, snowboarding, discovering new boba spots, and watching reality TV.

“Everybody has a story—ask them about it.”

I just told you mine. So, what’s yours?
