What is Integrative Psychiatry?

Integrative psychiatry is a holistic approach that uses both conventional and complementary therapies in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Personalized treatments are developed to suit each person’s lifestyle and strengthen self-awareness and resources for self-care. Many patients seek holistic treatment in addition to their traditional treatment plan.

Dr. Klindt’s medical expertise during the evaluation process will include a discussion regarding healthy eating, the importance of protein, supplements, and minerals that affect behavior and emotional problems, and the supplements that will meet the patient’s specific needs. Dr. Klindt has trialed many supplements and various brand names himself to give you the best information possible. He is personally dedicated to assisting his patients in maintaining overall medical, emotional, and nutritional health, putting entire families on a better path to health and wellness, and providing early diagnostic information to support better preventive interventions.

Dr. Klindt will also evaluate lifestyle habits, social factors, family support, spirituality, in addition to neurobiological factors, as part of the evaluation and treatment planning process. We believe outcomes are best when treatment is individualized and addresses multiple domains of the patient's life. For example, research shows that the best outcomes for disorders such as depression are found when the patient is engaged in psychotherapy in addition to psychiatric care. We evaluate each patient as a whole person and develop treatment plans that may include additional recommendations such as exercise, individual or family therapy, EMDR, TMS, or other treatment modalities.
