God is the one who comforts us in all our troubles so that we are able to comfort others with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
(II Corinthians 1:4).

Reaching out for help takes strength and courage. Barbara is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who uses a compassionate, sensitive approach to build on your strengths and create a safe environment for you to heal and grow. With you as the expert on your life and Barbara’s evidence-based solution-focused approach, she will collaborate with you to support your goals with respect and understanding.

Educational Background
Barbara earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Health Psychology from Santa Clara University. Under the tutelage of experts in the fields of cognitive-behavioral science, mindfulness, and trauma treatment, she developed a thorough understanding of the whole person, including the importance of the mind-body connection.

In her undergraduate psychology program at San Jose State University, Barbara studied neuroscience, perception, and cognition. Her overarching desire is to use all that she has learned for your benefit; to help you live your best life.

Life Experience to Serve You
Barbara has traveled extensively in search of cultural understanding. She has experience working with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents from a wide variety of perspectives, cultures, backgrounds, ethnicities, and physical abilities.

Barbara’s professional background includes children’s ministry, corporate staffing, and business management. Her volunteerism has included work with: ABC Project Cornerstone, CityTeam, Parents Helping Parents, and Project Hired. Barbara and her husband have been married nearly 20 years and live in the Bay Area with their two sons.

Take Therapy Home with You
Some therapists will work with you in their office and hope you are able to remember the experience. Barbara will give you clear ways to get the most out of therapy with experiential activities and tools to use in your daily life, even long after therapy has ended.

Why Choose Me?
In my personal life, I have walked alongside people who have experienced traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), cancer and other life-altering diagnoses, or the tragic loss of a child or spouse.

As a therapist, I have helped couples to reconnect, individual adults and adolescents to experience joy again after struggling with depression or grief, and overwhelmed caregivers to find balance. I can sit with your pain, provide hands-on tools to try at home, and even help you to laugh again.

I look forward to working with you. The therapeutic relationship is so important that I offer a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit.
