Meet Chi

If you are reading my profile, I imagine you’re looking for personalized professional support on matters that are of great importance to you. There are a variety of reasons why people seek therapy, and perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed, confused, hopeless, or stuck. Perhaps you’ve been struggling with external stressors that have been difficult to manage, relationships that aren’t working, or longtime hurts that continue to impact your day-to-day life.

It can be scary to reach out for help, and I want to applaud you for taking this first step. Clients who have worked with me find new pathways of understanding, new ways of relating to themselves and others, and new ways of being that better facilitate their health and wholeness. I would be happy to connect with you so that we can determine whether I might be a good fit to join in on your healing journey.

My Background

Prior to beginning my counseling career, I worked as a youth minister at a local church in Silicon Valley. In this capacity, I worked closely with teens, and as a result with their families as well. Although many of my own life experiences had previously nudged me toward pursuing a counseling career, it was ultimately my work with young people that highlighted the importance of mental health education and services for the thriving for individuals, families, and communities, and thus catalyzed my decision to join the field of counseling.

I am passionate about working with teens (ages 13-18) and young adults in their 20’s and 30’s, and navigating the many life transitions and milestones that are contained within those decades. Furthermore, as a second generation Vietnamese American and an active member of a Chinese church, I also possess a specific understanding of Southeast and East Asian people, and can tailor-fit my approaches to counseling within these cultural frames. My work can take into consideration the challenges of cultural identity development, cultural trauma, and generational gaps that immigrant families may face.

With all my clients, my approach to therapy is person-centered and insight-oriented. It is my honor to support clients as they process and share their story, and my aim to empower my clients as their insights yield new tools for thriving.

Areas of Focus

I focus on working with clients on issues related to anxiety, burnout, self-esteem, life transitions, identity development, family-of-origin challenges, and spirituality.

Fun Facts

Outside of the counseling office, I enjoy cooking, leisurely bike rides, and reading historical fiction.
