Barbara is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in helping cross-cultural couples, as well as treating adolescents and adults who struggle with depression, grief, or insomnia. She uses a compassionate, sensitive approach to build on your strengths and create a safe environment for you to communicate, heal, and grow. Believing that you are the expert on your life, Barbara will collaborate with you using an evidence-based and solution-focused approach to support your goals – with respect and understanding.

Educational Background

Barbara earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Health Psychology from Santa Clara University. Under the tutelage of experts in the fields of marriage & couples therapy, cognitive-behavioral science, mindfulness, and trauma treatment, she developed a thorough understanding what makes relationships work well, the role of hope, and how important the mind-body connection is to our overall health.

In her undergraduate psychology program at San Jose State University, Barbara studied neuroscience, perception, and cognition. Her overarching desire is to use all that she has learned for your benefit; to help you live your best life.

Life Experience to Serve You

Barbara has traveled extensively in search of cultural understanding. She has experience working with couples, families, individuals, and adolescents from a wide variety of perspectives, cultures, backgrounds, ethnicities, and physical abilities.

Barbara’s professional background includes children’s ministry, corporate staffing, and business management. She has volunteered with: ABC Project Cornerstone, CityTeam, Parents Helping Parents, and Project Hired. Barbara and her husband have been married nearly 20 years and live in the Bay Area with their two sons.

Take Therapy Home with You

Some therapists will work with you in their office and hope you are able to remember the experience. Barbara will give you clear ways to get the most out of therapy with experiential activities and tools to use in your daily life, even long after therapy has ended.

Why Choose Me?

As a therapist, I have helped couples to reconnect, adolescents and adults to experience joy after struggling with depression or grief, and overwhelmed caregivers to find balance. I can provide hands-on tools for you to try at home, can help you through your pain, and even help you to laugh again.

In my personal life, I have walked alongside people in times of joy as well as those who have experienced unexpected tragic losses and life-altering diagnoses.
Whether personally or professionally, I show up as my authentic self so that others can also. I look forward to working with you. The therapeutic relationship is so important that I offer a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit.

Why I Do What I Do

“God is the one who comforts us in all our troubles so that we are able to comfort others with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”
