Need a therapist who SPECIALIZES in COUPLES? Dr. Motro is fully dedicated to couples therapy (that’s all he does!), has very practical relationship tools/exercises so you can work on your relationship at home, has specialized couples training at the Master’s and Doctoral levels, is an adjunct professor teaching couples therapy at graduate school, and has real-life experience (married 30+ years with adult children).

Dr. Motro uses scientifically-validated psychotherapy techniques for couples (an integration of Emotion-focused Therapy, Gottman and Imago) which have been proven effective through decades of research with thousands of couples. He also makes sure that his method is completely consistent with and rooted in Biblical principles.

More specifically, his approach for therapy is to: 1) get problems honestly out in the open and into a safe place, 2) identify themes of conflict and understand the deeper issues that keep the conflict from being resolved, 3) help you learn tools for communicating, managing hurt and anger, and expressing compassion, and 4) apply these tools to heal the wounds that keep you stuck and feeling alone. The result of this process is usually to restore healthy communication, improve emotional intimacy, and bring a sense of teamwork to the relationship.

His four sub-specialties are:
1) NEURODIVERSE COUPLES: Providing concrete ways to overcome the challenges of Asperger’s (Video Therapy Option is available for out-of-town clients),
2) AFFAIRS: Giving you a path from betrayal to repairing the relationship, and
3) BLENDED FAMILIES AND CO-PARENTING: Finding ways to merge parenting styles and family cultures to create a new loving supportive family.
4) SEXUAL INTIMACY: Helping you feel safe so you can find joy in having your sexual needs and desires met in your marriage.

A personal note from Dr. Motro: “I became a couples specialist because helping couples can be complex and difficult. Having a well-trained therapist gives you the best chance to heal. I would love to support your healing journey in every way I can.”

Working with a COUPLES SPECIALIST gives you the BEST CHANCE to heal your relationship so you can feel safer, more trusted and more loved.  Harry Motro, PsyD

Why Choose Me?

Focus

My practice is completely dedicated to serving couples because that is my passion. Working with couples can be much more challenging and intense when compared to individual counseling. Don’t settle for a therapist who may not be able to offer what your partner and you truly need.

Extend therapy to your home

Many therapists work with you in their office and just hope you can “remember” the experience. With me, you will walk out of my office with clearly explained tasks to attempt on your own. Couples find that this makes a huge difference in their progress.

Specialized Couples Training

I have received specialized couples training as part of my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) and Master’s in Counseling Psychology (MA). I am also licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and teach marriage therapy to graduate students as an Adjunct Professor.

Experience with the toughest issues
I create a safe healing environment to bring understanding, love and change to challenging situations such as a devastating affair, a disconnected Neurodiverse relationship, a struggling blended family, uncontrolled anger, sexual wounding, verbal or physical abuse, harsh co-parenting conflicts, high-intensity arguing, a painful divorce, and even the loss of a child.
