As a couples therapist, he has developed an extensive set of practical tools for you and your partner to integrate into your relationship. He has undergone specialized relationship training at the Master’s and Doctoral levels. In addition, having been married for 29 years, he has learned from the ups and downs of real life, not just reading about it.

His approach to couples therapy is based on 35 years of scientific research with couples and is consistent with and rooted in Biblical principles. More specifically, his approach is to: 1) get problems out in the open and into a safe place, 2) identify themes of conflict and understand the deeper issues that keep the conflict from being resolved, 3) help you learn tools for communicating, managing anger, and expressing compassion, and 4) apply these tools to heal the wounds that have been inflicted. The goal of this process is to restore trust and build a shared vision for the relationship.

A personal note from Harry: “I became a couples specialist because I believe it gives you the best chance to heal your relationship so you can feel safer, more trusted and more loved. Seeing a relationship crumble breaks my heart. I would love to support your healing journey in every way I can.”

There are links to screening tools (on the left side of this page) which can help you take the first step in exploring the issues which may be impacting your relationship. For more information on these tools and my practice, go to www.harrymotro.com.

Why Choose Me?

Focus

My practice is completely dedicated to serving couples because that is my passion. Working with couples can be much more challenging and intense when compared to individual counseling. Don’t settle for a therapist who may not be able to offer what your partner and you truly need.

Extend therapy to your home

Many therapists work with you in their office and just hope you can “remember” the experience. With me, you will walk out of my office with clearly explained tasks to attempt on your own. Couples find that this makes a huge difference in their progress.

Specialized Couples Training

I have received specialized couples training as part of my Doctorate of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) and Master’s in Counseling Psychology (MA). I am also licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and teach marriage therapy to graduate students as an Adjunct Professor.

Experience with the toughest issues

I create a safe healing environment to deal with extremely challenging situations such as a devastating affair, uncontrolled anger, sexual wounding, verbal or physical abuse, harsh co-parenting conflicts, high-intensity arguing, a painful divorce, and even the loss of a child.
